General terms and conditions of Ghent University Hospital, hereafter abbreviated as 'hospital'.
- The invoice must be paid within 30 calendar days of dispatch. Always mention the structured communication.
You can also pay at the Admissions and registration desk. This can be done by Bancontact, Maestro, Mastercard and Visa. - Any complaints about charged services or prices, you must report in writing to the Patient invoicing department within 8 calendar days of receiving the invoice.
- If payment is not made on time, you will receive a free first reminder.
In case of a second reminder, a 20 euro damage penalty will be charged.
If no payment follows even after a second reminder, the file will be transferred to a bailiff's office. In that case, the damage clause is equal to:- 20 euros if the balance due is less than or equal to 150 euros
- 30 euros plus 10 percent of the amount due on the tranche between 150.01 and 500 euros if the balance due is between 150.01 and 500 euros
- 65 euros plus 5 percent of the amount due on the bracket above 500 euros with a maximum of 2000 euros if the balance due is above 500 euros
- For appointments cancelled or not kept less than 24 hours in advance, a fee of 30 euros may be charged, except in cases of force majeure.
- In the event that the hospital fails to fulfill its contractual obligations, the patient is entitled to the same lump sum compensation.
- If legal proceedings become necessary to obtain payment, late payment interest will be charged at the legal rate plus a coefficient of 10 percent.
- Belgian law is applicable. All disputes shall fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Justice of the Peace Court of the Canton of Ghent or of the Court of First Instance of East Flanders, Ghent Division.
- The patient designates the hospital as special authorised representative to request his information details listed in the population registers or a certificate in this regard.
