We process the following data:
- Your identification data: name, date of birth, national register number, unique patient number, etc.
- Data about your health in the context of your care.
- Financial and administrative data: e.g. to organise your admission and invoice you afterwards.
- Data about your social situation: when this is important. For example, a social file, which compiles data and actions of social workers, can help to identify the specific needs and requirements of the patient, allowing us to tailor the care provision accordingly.
- Sometimes the law requires UZ Gent to collect, maintain or otherwise process other data, such as judicial data.
- To register a complaint, the hospital's Ombudsperson service collects your identification data and data on the care about which your complaint concerns.
- There is camera security on the grounds and in the buildings of UZ Gent.
- We may also take images for medical reasons, e.g. to monitor the health condition of patients in Intensive care, in Neonatal intensive care, in the Sleep clinic, in the Stroke unit, etc. Filming may also be necessary for quality monitoring, e.g. during surgery, or to monitor certain disorders (such as movement disorders). Cameras are hung in highly visible places. Your healthcare provider can give you more information.
- For the operation and security of the website and to improve your browsing experience, we use cookies. More information on this can be found in the cookie declaration.
Under no circumstances do we process more personal data than necessary for the purposes listed. Our rule of thumb is the need-to-know principle and not the nice-to-know principle.
